Bird Control

Bird Control

About birds

Many types of birds pose a problem when they invade your home. While there are whole industries designed to attract birds to the area surrounding your home, the excitement can quickly become a nuisance. The types of birds that are most likely to create a disturbance in and around your home include pigeons, sparrows, woodpeckers, and crows, among others.

Because most bird species are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, it’s best to leave any attempts at bird removal to professionals. Bring in Gray Brothers Wildlife LLC as soon as possible and we’ll take care of it!

Bird habits

Birds will often nest or roost in the interior and/or exterior of buildings around your property.

Pigeons

Pigeons are a common nuisance in human spaces, and they can cause a significant amount of damage to your home. Pigeons lay up to four broods of eggs every year, which means that a small pigeon problem can quickly become a large-scale flock if the problem is left unattended. Pigeons are known to leave droppings on buildings, sidewalks, and cars, and they often build nests in gutters or downspouts. This intrusion can damage these structures over time and render them ineffective in the event of a rainstorm. If you would like to learn how to prevent pigeons visit at pestcontrolwildlife.com

Sparrows

Sparrows often build nests in small nooks and crannies in residential spaces. If you’ve noticed a buildup of material in your siding, awnings, or any other small exterior openings, you may be vulnerable to a sparrow infestation. Over time, this can lead to significant droppings and nesting material falling onto your property.

Woodpeckers

Woodpeckers are well-known for the damage that they can leave in their wake, most often affecting buildings’ siding, trim, and eaves. The constant pecking can also cause a noise disturbance over time. Long-term, woodpeckers can drill so many holes in your property that the structural integrity of the material is compromised. Woodpeckers are a federally protected species in the US, meaning that special care must be taken when dealing with woodpecker removal

Crows

Crows are often unafraid of humans and can appear relatively hostile if you approach them or try to force them out of your space. In urban areas, they’re especially present as they raid trash cans and collect food scraps. Like woodpeckers, crows are federally protected in the US.

Bird damage

Birds can cause many types of damage to your space. Many bird species will create large, intrusive nests that create a noise disturbance and a safety threat. The droppings and nest materials that may fall out of a nest can be contaminated with the disease that may spread to humans and other animals. Birds may also damage roof tiles, gutters, and other materials on the exterior of your building. This is especially true for woodpeckers, which may leave deep holes in wood and even metal across your property.

Our bird removal process

We’ll begin our removal process with a thorough inspection of your home (or commercial building) and the surrounding area. Our goal is to identify any and all potential entry points so that we can later seal them off.

Once we’ve located all of the potential entry points, we’ll typically seal all but one of the entry points to force the birds out. In some cases with only a few birds, we’ll attempt to catch and release the birds instead. We’ll also note any nests that may exist and make sure to check for baby birds or bird eggs to eliminate the entirety of the problem. If there are any dead birds left behind, we’ll take care of that removal process as well.

To keep your space protected long-term, we may also install deterrents that make your property less appealing to birds. These options typically include bird spikes, netting, and other natural or chemical repellents. For some birds, the presence of a visual deterrent like a scarecrow or mirror may be enough to prevent return.

Rest assured that our entire process is designed to be both effective and humane for the animal involved. Our state-of-the-art technology, including drones, field cameras, borescopes, and thermal imaging allows us to gain a more thorough understanding of the problem before we begin, helping to ensure success and a smooth process for everyone involved. From start to finish, we carefully follow all applicable laws and regulations that govern the birds’ removal.
